Encourage your toddler to explore the book freely. Let them open and close the barn windows to discover the animals hiding behind them, remove the pieces and attach them however they like. Join in from time to time—talk about the animals, vegetables, shapes and colors you see. Shared play helps your toddler learn new words, build early language skills, and strengthen communication through everyday interaction.

Offer simple age-appropriate challenges such as matching shapes or finding animals together. When you play alongside your child, your interest and presence enrich the learning experience while strengthening your bond and supporting early social development.

Now it’s time for more advanced play. Play together and talk about the tasks—matching a mother to her baby, pairing animals with their silhouettes or shapes. Expand the play through imagination: Where is the tractor going? What are the animals doing today? Use the finger puppets to create little stories together.

Extend the activities in new ways. Mix the removable pieces and sort them into groups—cows together, ducks together, and more. The number train introduces early math concepts such as recognizing numbers, counting and understanding quantities from 1–5, while also encouraging imaginative play.
