  Can I use the Mica if my car does not have ISOFIX connectors?

  The Maxi-Cosi Mica is a car seat that needs to be installed by using the ISOFIX system in our car and cannot be installed without using the ISOFIX system in the car.

  How to be sure the Maxi-Cosi Mica is correctly installed in my car?

  To ensure a correct installation, you need to follow the steps defined in the instruction manual. The indicator on the ISOFIX connectors and support leg will confirm correct installation. When ISOFIX buttons become green, it means that the ISOFIX connectors are correctly connected to the car. The display on the support leg provides a visual and audio feedback for correct installation. When the indicator on the support leg becomes green and the sound stops, it ensures correct installation of the support leg. We strongly recommend you to always check these 2 indicators each time before driving. To guide you in the installation, you can have a look at the instruction movie on the Maxi-Cosi website.

  Can I install the Maxi-Cosi Mica on the front passenger seat?

  Yes, you can use the Mica on the front passenger seat if the front seat is equipped with ISOFIX anchorages. When travelling rearward facing it is mandatory to always deactivate the airbag. When you use the Mica forward facing it is mandatory to deactivate the airbag and we recommend to place the front passenger seat in the rearmost position. We invite you to check in your vehicle’s manual or in our car fitting list on our web site if Mica can be installed in the front passenger seat. If you plan to install Mica in forward facing position, in front passenger seat, you need to check the legislation in force in the country where the seat will be used. There is some restrictions depending on countries.

  I don’t find my car in the car fitting list, does it mean Mica can't fit in my car?

  The «car fitting list» is a non-exhaustive list of cars in which the Maxi-Cosi Mica can be installed. This list is regularly updated on our website www.maxi-cosi.com. In case you don't find your car, it can mean that the fitting test with your car has not been done yet. Then, we invite you to check instructions in your vehicle’s manual, and contact our consumer car service to check if Mica can fit your car.

  Will the Maxi-Cosi Mica fit in my car?

  The Maxi-Cosi Mica is a car seat that fits cars which are equipped with ISOFIX anchorages. We invite you to check in your car instruction manual if your car is equipped with ISOFIX anchorages. Check in our online car fitting list in the Maxi-Cosi website to check if Mica fits your car.

  Why do baby's and young toddlers have to travel in rearward facing position?

  Babies have a large and relatively heavy head compared to the rest of their body. In addition, their neck muscles are not yet fully developed. If the baby is travelling in a forward-facing position, his or her head will be thrown forward in the event of a head-on collision. This can cause serious neck injury and may even be fatal. By placing the baby in a rearward facing position, the forces exerted during the crash will be distributed across the baby’s entire back. It is then safer to travel rearward facing with babies as long as possible.

  How long can I place my toddler rearward-facing on the Maxi-Cosi Mica?

  Maxi-Cosi recommends you to use the seat in the rearward facing position for as long as possible and up to 105 cm. This will significantly improve the protection of the head and neck of the toddler, which is still very fragile at this age.

  From when can I use the Maxi-Cosi Mica forward facing?

  Maxi-Cosi recommends you to use the Mica car seat as long as possible in a rearward facing position (up to 105 cm or a minimum of 15 months) since this enhances the safety for your child in case of frontal collisions. The Mica can be used though in a forward facing position when your child is at least 76 cm.

  How to switch the Maxi-Cosi Mica car seat from rearward to forward facing?

  To switch the car seat from rearward to forward facing, you need to squeeze the grey button on top of the support leg. The Mica car seat is now unlocked and can be rotated to the forward facing position. We invite you to look at the Mica instruction movie for more details on the Maxi-Cosi website.

  When can I switch the Maxi-Cosi Mica from rearward to forward facing position?

  According to the regulation, children must travel rearward facing up to 15 months. Maxi-Cosi strongly recommends to keep your child rearward facing as long as possible and up to 105 cm to better protect the baby's fragile head and neck in case of accidents. To help you to know when you can switch from rearward facing to forward facing, you can use the informative print located closed to the headrest.

  How can I wash the Maxi-Cosi Mica cover?

  The cover, headrest cover, shoulder pads and newborn inlay can be removed for washing. Before cleaning, check the label sewn into the different part of the fabric. You will find the wash symbols indicating the method of washing each item. If the cover needs to be replaced at any time, only use official Maxi-Cosi covers because it constitutes an integral part of the restraint performance. To clean the shell, you can use a damp cloth.   What’s the purpose of the inlay in the Mica?

  This is a safety inlay, specifically developed to protect your baby from birth (40 cm) until 60 cm in the Mica. For your child’s safety, it is mandatory to keep it until 60 cm. It is forbidden to remove parts of the inlay, to modify it or to use any other cushion not designed for this seat.

  Up to when should I use the inlay for my baby in the Mica?

  The Mica inlay padding does not leave much room for my baby. May I remove some foam from the inlay to give it more room?

  No, the padding is designed to protect your baby in case of a car crash. For your child’s safety, it is forbidden to remove parts of the inlay, to modify it or to use any other cushion not designed for this seat. For maximum safety and improved comfort, please make sure you remove your baby’s coat.

  Can I use the Mica newborn inlay in another car seat?

  This is not allowed. The Mica newborn inlay has been configured and homologated for use with the Mica only, ensuring a safe use of the Mica from birth (40 cm). Using the Mica newborn inlay in another car seat will make the car seat uncompliant with the stringent i-Size (R129) safety requirements.

  How to adjust the Maxi-Cosi Mica harness?

  The harness is adjustable together with the headrest. To adjust the harness, you need to first loosen the harness by pushing the harness soft adjuster button, and pull out the harness belts. Then, by pressing the button at the back of the headrest, you can adjust the headrest by moving it up or down. Once done, you can install the child and tighten the harness by using the harness adjuster strap at the front.

  Why does the Maxi Cosi Mica have a 5-point safety harness?

  All group 1 (until 105 cm) car seats of Maxi-Cosi have 5 point safety harness with one-pull adjustment. This harness distributes the forces of an impact best over the strong bones of the child and into the seat. Additionally, the 5 point harness allows perfect adjustment of the child and keep him secured in the safest position in the seat.

  What is the right position/height for the safety harness?

  The harness straps should be placed at the level of the shoulders, not coming from above nor below. The headrest is adjusted together with the safety harness.

  Can the anti-slip shoulder pads material be painful for child during the summer?

  The anti-slip harness pads play an important safety role. It offers high restraint performance by reducing forward facing movement in case of a frontal impact. This material has been selected for these high performance restraint criteria and because it is soft, it is not painful for the child regardless of the temperature in the car. As it is part of the safety of the Mica, you always need to use the harness of the car seat.

  What should I do if my child opens the buckle of his safety harness?

  In this case, we recommend that you stop immediately in a safe place, fasten the buckle once more and tell the child he should not open it and the reason for this. It is always a possibility that an inventive, handy or strong child will open the buckle. If the force required to open the buckle were to be considerably increased to make it impossible for the child to open it himself, this would be contrary to the legal safety standards. The position of the buckle, the colour of the button, and the operating or opening force are all determined in European standards.

  What is the right position for the headrest of my child car seat?

  The headrest should be positioned in such a way that in a forward facing position the eyes and ears of the child are located in the middle of the headrest. This means that the child's head can exceed the headrest in foward facing position. In a rearward facing position the head should not exceed the headrest.

  How to adjust the Maxi-Cosi Mica headrest?

  To adjust the headrest, you need first to loosen the harness by pushing the harness soft adjuster button, and pull out the harness belts. Once done, you can then press the button at the back of the headrest and move the headrest up and down to adjust the height.

  Why is there a print on the Maxi-Cosi Mica cover close to the headrest? How should I read it?

  This print is an informative label to help you to know when it is allowed to switch from rearward facing to forward facing according to the length of your baby or toddler. On a daily basis, it's not easy to know the exact length of your growing baby, and you may want to quickly install your child in a forward facing position because it's easier to see your child. Nevertheless, your child should not be placed in forward facing position before 76 cm or 15 months of age. The goal of this label is clearly to avoid babies to be installed too early in a forward facing position.

  How many sitting and sleeping positions does the Maxi-Cosi Mica have?

  The Maxi-Cosi Mica has five comfortable positions in rearward facing and in forward facing position - from a sitting to a sleeping position - and can be easily adjusted from the front of the seat.

  Where can I find the handle to adjust the recline position on the Maxi-Cosi Mica?

  The grey recline handle can be found at the front of the seat, and can be used in the rearward and forward facing position.

  I cannot recline the Maxi-Cosi Mica installed forward facing in the sleeping position because it interferes with the car seat bench. What can I do?

  You can disconnect the ISOFIX anchors of the Mica car seat, recline the Mica car seat in the sleeping position and then, reconnect the ISOFIX anchors to the car.

  Where is the G-CELL technology located?

  G-CELL is a side-impact technology and is integrated on both sides of the Mica to spread impact forces all over the car seat structure in case of an accident from the side.

  How to be sure the Maxi-Cosi Mica is locked in the travelling position?

  The Maxi-Cosi Mica has 2 travelling position: rearward facing (from 40 - 105cm / approx. birth - 4y) and forward facing (76 - 105cm / >15m - approx. 4y). Before installing your toddler in the seat, the first step is to rotate the seat towards the door by pushing the grey handle on the top of the support leg. A red indicator will appear to confirm that the seat can be rotated and that it is NOT locked in a travelling position. A lateral position of the seat provides for an easy and quick child installation. After installing your child, you will be able to swivel the seat from facing you to the desired travelling  position (rearward or forward facing). Once the traveling position is locked, you will not be able to swivel the seat in another direction unless you press the grey handle on top of the support leg again. This will avoid possible mistake in the daily life. The handle will , and a “click” can be heard to confirm the seat is locked in the travelling position.

  Can I swivel the Maxi-Cosi Mica when it’s in recline position ?

  Yes, The Maxi-Cosi Mica can be swiveled even when the seat is in recline position to give you maximum convenience in daily use.

  The Maxi-Cosi Mica complies with i-Size (R129) regulation. What does that mean ?

  i-Size (R129) is a new European regulation, active from July 2013, that aims at increasing children safety in car by supporting rearward facing travelling up to at least 15 months, promoting universal ISOFIX installation, and improving safety standards for additional protection for head and neck.   What is ISOFIX?

  ISOFIX is an international standardized fitting system, which provides the safest, easiest and quickest way to install a child car seat correctly without the need of vehicle seat belts. The name ISOFIX stands for ISO (International Standardization Organization) plus FIX (Fixation). ISOFIX car seats make use of two standard attachment points located at the base of the seat, plus an anti-tipping forward device: either a support leg or top tether. From 2006 all new cars are equipped with ISOFIX, and ISOFIX is also fitted in a large number of car brands built prior to 2006. Find out more about ISOFIX.

  Can I also install the Maxi-Cosi Mica using the car’s seat belt?

  No, the Maxi-Cosi Mica cannot be installed with the car's seat belt. It is a car seat that needs to be installed with the ISOFIX system.

  What do I do if my Maxi-Cosi product needs to be repaired?

  If your Maxi-Cosi product fails due to a manufacturing or workmanship defect, we will either send you a replacement part or make a repair free of charge under our 24-month warranty or Lifetime Warranty. This also covers the cost of shipping. If the product cannot be repaired, or if the cost of repairing the item exceeds the cost of a new one, it will be replaced by another Maxi-Cosi of the same model and colour.

   

  If that is not available, it will be replaced by the closest model and available colour. If you made your purchase from a Maxi-Cosi authorized dealer, please take the item back to them to arrange for it to be repaired or replaced free of charge. If you bought it via this website, please get in touch with our customer care team. You’ll need your original purchase receipt and your Lifetime Warranty card if you are claiming under our Lifetime Warranty. If you are claiming under our 24-month warranty, you’ll need your original purchase receipt. Please note that repairs do not extend the warranty.

  What if I need a repair that is not covered under warranty?

  Repairs not covered under warranty include any damage caused by normal wear and tear, accidental damage, malicious damage, negligence, or if you do not follow the guidance set out in the user manual. If you bought the item second-hand you are also unable to claim under warranty.
